   Well, despite being the most secure (and not by much, if any in my opinion) Mcafee and Norton products are the worst. While they will stop most viruses/spyware they are resource hogs and will greatly impact your performance. Norton is the worst at this, and it is hard to uninstall. I use free AVG now and have yet to be infected by any virus/spyware. Many people say AVG is not good at catching viruses, but many say it is. You could also try NOD32 which is very good, but not free. I’d stay away from anything from Panda as you could get better protection for free. When looking at reviews, many publications are simply advertising for a certain brand. You’ll see a lot of “such and such AV sucks” followed by “such and such AV is the best”. Most AVs have free trials, so try them out and see which one you think is worth paying for. Or, go the free route.

   For reviews I’d check otu, they have an editors review and user reviews to check out.

   The best advise is to use common sense. Don’t open e-mails from people you don’t know, only visit site you know/trust, don’t give away personal information. Use common sense and you don’t have to worry as much.
